Anoro Ellipta Inhaler (Umeclidinium / Vilanterol)

Anoro Ellipta Inhaler is used for the long-term management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps to improve breathing by reducing inflammation and opening the airways, making it easier for individuals with COPD to breathe.

Anoro Ellipta Inhaler contains two active ingredients umeclidinium bromide and vilanterol trifenatate. It is not intended for the immediate relief of acute bronchospasm.

Product Highlights

  • Umeclidinium bromide & vilanterol trifenatate is part of medicines group called bronchodilators.
  • Anoro Ellipta combines two medications—umeclidinium, a long-acting anticholinergic (LAMA), and vilanterol, a long-acting beta-agonist (LABA).
  • This combination provides a dual approach to manage COPD symptoms.
  • It is administered once daily, which can improve adherence compared to multiple daily doses.

Key Ingredients

  • Umeclidinium Bromide
  • Vilanterol Trifenatate

Key Benefits

  • Helps to reduce symptoms of COPD such as shortness of breath, wheezing, and chronic cough.
  • Can improve overall lung function, making it easier to perform daily activities.
  • With its once-daily administration, it simplifies the treatment regimen for better compliance.

Direction For Use

  • Open the inhaler by sliding the cover down until you hear a click, which indicates it is ready for use.
  • Breathe out fully before using the inhaler. Place the mouthpiece between your lips and inhale deeply and steadily. Hold your breath for about 10 seconds, then exhale slowly.
  • After inhalation, close the inhaler cover to protect it from damage and contamination.

Safety Concern

  • Common side effects include throat irritation, headache, cough, and upper respiratory tract infections. Less common but more severe side effects can include worsening of breathing problems, chest pain, and increased heart rate.
  • Can interact with other medications, so it's important to inform your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking.

Avoid Taking Anoro Ellipta Inhaler (Umeclidinium / Vilanterol) If

  • You have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to umeclidinium, vilanterol, or any other component of the inhaler.
  • It should not be used as a rescue inhaler for sudden asthma attacks or acute bronchospasm.
  • Avoid use if you have a history of certain conditions like severe heart disease, narrow-angle glaucoma, or urinary retention unless advised by a healthcare provider.
