Information about Breztri Inhaler
Breztri is a combination inhaler used for the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is a prescription medication designed to help improve breathing and reduce symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chronic cough associated with COPD.
Product Highlights
- Breztri Aerosphere combines three active ingredients— glycopyrronium, budesonide and formoterol—into a single inhaler, providing both anti-inflammatory and bronchodilator effects.
- Budesonide a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways.
- Formoterol a long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) that helps to relax the muscles around the airways and make breathing easier.
- Comes as a metered-dose inhaler (MDI), which is easy to use and allows precise dosing of medication.
Key Ingredient
- Glycopyrronium
- Budesonide
- Formoterol
Key Benefits
- Budesonide helps to decrease inflammation and swelling in the airways, which can improve breathing and reduce COPD symptoms.
- Formoterol relaxes airway muscles, which helps to open the airways and make breathing easier.
- Provides sustained symptom relief, typically used twice daily.
- Combines three medications into one inhaler, simplifying the treatment regimen.
Direction of Use
- Recommended dose is 2 puffs (actuations) of medicine daily twice a day.
- Shake the Inhaler: Before each use, shake the inhaler well.
- Prime the Inhaler: If using the inhaler for the first time or if it hasn’t been used for a while, prime it by releasing a few test sprays.
- Inhale: Breathe out fully, then place the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips around it. Inhale deeply and slowly while pressing down on the canister to release the medication.
- Hold Your Breath: Hold your breath for about 10 seconds to allow the medication to reach your lungs.
- Rinse Your Mouth: After using the inhaler, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out to reduce the risk of oral thrush.
Safety Concerns
- Rinsing your mouth after use helps to prevent oral infections such as thrush.
- Long-term use of inhaled corticosteroids can increase the risk of pneumonia in COPD patients.
- Can include hoarseness, dry mouth, and headaches.
- May interact with other medications, so inform your healthcare provider of all the drugs you are taking.
Avoid Breztri Inhaler If
- You are allergic to budesonide, formoterol, or any other ingredients in the inhaler.
