Information about Tudorza Pressair (Aclidinium)

Tudorza Pressair (Aclidinium) is a bronchodilator used to help manage symptoms of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is an inhaled medication that helps improve airflow to the lungs by blocking muscarinic receptors in the smooth muscles of the airways. This action leads to the relaxation of these muscles, which helps to open the airways, reducing symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath. Aclidinium is a long-acting medication, meaning it works over an extended period to help control symptoms and improve lung function.

Product Highlights

  • Tudorza Pressair is indicated for the long-term maintenance treatment of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It helps alleviate symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.
  • Tudorza helps reduce the constriction of the airways, making it easier for patients to breathe.

Key Ingredient

  • Aclidinium

Key Benefits

  • By relaxing the muscles around the airways, Tudorza Pressair helps reduce bronchospasm and improve airflow, leading to easier breathing.
  • It is a long-acting medication, providing 24-hour relief with just one dose per day.
  • The Pressair inhaler is easy to use and provides clear feedback, ensuring that the correct dose is taken.
  • Regular use of Tudorza Pressair can help improve lung function over time, reducing the frequency of COPD flare-ups and improving overall quality of life.
  • It helps reduce the feeling of breathlessness and improves daily activities by opening up the airways.

Direction of Use

  • The usual recommended dose of Tudorza Pressair is one inhalation (400 mcg) once a day, ideally at the same time each day.

Administration:

  • Open the Pressair inhaler by sliding the cover down until it clicks.
  • Hold the inhaler upright and press the green button to load the dose.
  • Exhale fully (but not into the inhaler), and then place the mouthpiece between your lips.
  • Inhale deeply and forcefully through your mouth to ensure the full dose is delivered to your lungs.
  • After inhaling, hold your breath for a few seconds, then exhale slowly.
  • Close the inhaler and rinse your mouth if needed.
  • If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you recall, unless it's nearly time for your next dose. Do not take an extra dose to make up for the missed one.

Safety Concerns

  • Common side effects of Tudorza Pressair include throat irritation, dry mouth, cough, headache, and nasal congestion. These effects are typically mild and tend to resolve on their own with time.
  • Tudorza may increase the risk of eye problems, such as glaucoma. Patients with a history of eye conditions should use it with caution.
  • Tudorza can cause urinary retention, particularly in older adults or those with prostate problems.
  • Long-term use of inhaled bronchodilators like Tudorza may increase the risk of respiratory infections, including pneumonia.
  • Rarely, some people may experience worsening of breathing difficulties immediately after using the inhaler. If this occurs, stop using Tudorza and seek medical attention immediately.
  • Tudorza is for long-term maintenance therapy, not for the immediate relief of acute COPD symptoms or during an asthma attack.
  • Rarely, people may experience an allergic reaction, including rash, itching, or difficulty breathing. If you notice these symptoms, contact a healthcare provider immediately.
