Product Details

Linzess

Linzess (linaclotide) is called Constella in UK. Although the medicine is exactly the same, by the same manufacturer Allergan, they have branded the product as Constella in Europe.

In the United Kingdom, Linzess (called Constella) is available only in the higher dosage of 290mcg per capsules. Since it is a capsule, you cannot accurately split it, or use the 290mcg in place of the lower doses available in the United States.

Prescription Linzess is the number one prescribed medicine for Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation (IBS-C) and Chronic Idiopathic Constipation (CIC, constipation without a known cause). Linzess is used to treat the symptoms of these conditions, rather than using laxatives which are meant only for short term use in occasional constipation.

Linzess is different from laxatives because it relieves the pain in the belly and allows you to have complete and more regular complete bowel movements.

Linzess is only prescribed to adults. The 290mcg Linzess is taken once daily for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. Lower doses (unavailable here) are commonly used to treat CIC.

Taking Linzess daily as directed may improve your symptoms of constipation in one week. You must continue taking Linzess as if you stop, the symptoms can return again.

Take Linzess in the morning on an empty stomach only (at least 30 minutes before breakfast). Swallow the capsules whole unless you have trouble swallowing, in which case you can open the Linzess capsule and add to water (30ml) or applesauce.

In 2019, when comparing Linzess cost to USA Linzess coupon price, InsulinHub was found to offer a discount of approximately 50% in Linzess savings.
