In Europe, Betaferon goes by the trade name Betaseron. Both products are made by Bayer.

Prescription Betaferon contains Interferon beta 1b for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis, including isolated syndrome, active secondary progrssive disease and relapsing/remitting disease. The protein Interferon beta 1b is naturally occurring in the body and taking additional interferon may help to fight immune system attacks which may be associated with multiple sclerosis.

Betaferon is prescribed to adults however may work in children 12 years and older.

Betaferon injection comes in a vial with a prefilled solvent syringe that must be prepared prior to use. Before self-injecting, be sure that you are comfortable and have been properly shown how to use Betaferon.
