Prescription Edarbi (azilsartan) is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used by adults for the treatment of high blood pressure. Edarbi is often taken along with other medicines for high blood pressure as prescribed by your doctor.
Edarbi is usually given as an add-on therapy for high blood pressure when the other medicine is not giving the results you need. By lowering blood pressure, you may also reduce your risk of stroke or heart attack. Edarbi is taken as part of a treatment plan which will include a good diet and activity.
Edarbi works by blocking angiotensin II and relaxing blood vessels. In studies, Edarbi has been shown to lower blood pressure more than Benicar (olmesartan) and Diovan (valsartan) by 31% and 57% respectively after 6 weeks.
Edarbi is a once daily treatment, taken with or without food. Continue taking Edarbi even after your blood pressure is improved and do not stop taking it unless your doctor advises this.
