Information about Azopt Eye Drops (Brinzolamide)

Azopt Eye Drops are used primarily to manage and reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in individuals with conditions such as open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By lowering IOP, the drops help prevent damage to the optic nerve and potential vision loss.

Brinzolamide, is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that works by decreasing the production of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye), thereby lowering intraocular pressure.

Product Highlights

  • Designed for the management of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in conditions like open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
  • Azopt is a topical ophthalmic solution.
  • Typically available in a 1% concentration.
  • Azopt is a brand name, with brinzolamide being the generic name of the active ingredient.

  • Sodium chloride
  • Tyloxapol
  • Disodium edetate

Direction For Use

  • Wash Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly before using the eye drops.
  • Tilt Head Back: Tilt your head back and look up.
  • Apply Drop: Gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze out one drop into this pocket.

  • Repeat: If instructed, repeat in the other eye. Avoid touching the dropper tip to your eye or any other surface to keep it clean.
  • Close Bottle: Replace the cap tightly after use.

Safety Concern

  • Common side effects are eye irritation, burning, stinging, blurred vision, or a dry feeling in the eyes.
  • Though rare, serious side effects could include severe allergic reactions or significant vision changes.
  • Inform your doctor of all other medications you are using, as interactions can occur.

Avoid Azopt Eye Drops (Brinzolamide) If
